Laura has proudly represented the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association since 1998, managing its public and media relations.
A communications specialist with more than 25 years of experience in Southern New England, her firm is the recipient of three First Place Gold Mercury Awards from the Public Relations Society of America's Connecticut Valley chapter.
Laura is responsible for positioning CFDA and its individual members as experts in the funeral industry through communications that reach and influence a variety of audiences. She works with television, radio, print and web reporters and editors on local, state, and national topics, and coordinates appropriate efforts with the National Funeral Directors Association. The Northwestern University graduate is a member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).
Her work for CFDA and its members has resulted in stories in such influential media as the The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, CBS Evening News, ABC's 20/20, and all of Connecticut’s daily newspapers, broadcast TV, and major radio stations.
Before starting her own company 15 years ago, Laura worked as Director of Press & Publicity and Community Relations for WFSB Channel 3, as Vice President of Andrea Obston Marketing Communications, and as Director of Public Relations and Special Projects for the Greater Hartford Convention & Visitors Bureau for whom she ran the 1989 Taste of Hartford. While a Corporate Communications Administrator for The Travelers Companies, she was "loaned out" to be Manager of Media Relations for Connecticut Gov. William O'Neill's Commission on Private & Public Responsibilities for Financing Long-Term Care for the Elderly.
In her free time, Laura serves on the Boards of Directors of the Connecticut Veterans Memorial and the Channel 3 Kids Camp and is a former Board member of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's Connecticut chapter. In 2011, she was honored with the Camp's 2011 Women Raising Awareness Philanthropically (WRAP) Award. She has been a member of the Planning Committee for all of the University of Connecticut Basketball Victory Parades/Rallies in Hartford, and manages the public relations for the victory events.
